ARKids First
Launched in the fall of 1997, this highly successful statewide media campaign is designed to sign up previously uninsured children in Arkansas' Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). In the first year, it generated more than 35,000 responses and has been recognized at the federal level at a recent national CHIP conference in Baltimore.
Results
- Television and radio spots seen or heard by 2.4 million people every 90 days (verified by Nielsen and Arbitron ratings)

- Generated almost 4,000 calls a month to toll-free hotline

- In one year - 30,000 children enrolled
- This compares to California where only 22,000 children of a projected 200,000 were enrolled in the state's CHIP program. Tulsa, Oklahoma had only enrolled 500 children in their CHIP program as of October, 1998. (Source: Modern Healthcare, October 19, 1998 issue)
