Arkansas Baptist School System Elects UAMS CFO and Nationally Recognized Consumer Educator/Internet Entrepreneur to Board Joe White, Jr. Elected Board President

Little Rock, Ark. – The executive committee of the Arkansas Baptist School System (ABSS) Board of Directors elected Melony Goodhand and Curtis Arnold to fill the positions vacated by Dr. Dan Halberg and Dr. Brian Mashburn. The board also elected Joe White, Jr. board president for the 2010-2011 school year.

Goodhand is vice chancellor and chief financial officer of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She holds several college degrees including a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee, master’s degree from Trinity University, accounting degree from the University of Memphis, a physician assistant degree from the University of Tennessee and a judiciary degree from UALR School of Law. Melony and her husband Bob have a daughter at ABSS and are members of Little Rock’s First Baptist Church.

Arnold is the founder and spokesperson for CardRatings.com. He is a nationally recognized consumer educator and advocate and has been educating consumers about credit cards since 1998. Arnold is the author of "How You Can Profit from Credit Cards: Using Credit to Improve Your Financial Life and Bottom Line.” He is also the co-author of the “Complete Idiot's Guide to Person-to-Person Lending.” He is regularly interviewed and quoted by respected members of the national press regarding consumer credit issues.

Arnold is also the executive director of the Arnold Family Foundation. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Ouachita Baptist University where he currently serves on the board of trustees. Curtis and his wife Nancy have four children at ABSS and are members at The Summit Church in North Little Rock. His family will host an international student from Austria in the fall of 2010.

White served on the ABSS Board of Directors board for two years before being elected president. He is the Vice President, White-Daters & Associates, Inc., a civil engineering and surveying firm. He holds a civil engineering degree from the University of Arkansas. Joe and his wife Kim have three children at ABSS and are members of Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock. In addition, the board has named the following members as officers for the 2010-2011:

Halberg recently moved to Birmingham, Alabama, where he is an associate professor in the Department of Pharmacy and Business at Samford University. Mashburn has been named an IT director and instructor at ABSS.
