Popular Sculpture Invitational Sets 5th Annual Show for June Weekend Two-day event displays pieces from Arkansas and other regions in conjunction with Morrilton arts weekend

Little Rock, Ark. - The quaint town of Morrilton is host to the popular Fifth Annual Arkansas Sculpture Invitational Show and Sale this year. Presented by the Arkansas Sculptors Guild (ARSG), the event once showcased only Arkansas sculptors. Recently ARSG broadened their requirements to allow artists from other states to display their work in addition to the local Arkansas artists.

The two-day event (June 19 and 20) is being held in front of the Morrilton Railroad Depot and Museum. The show will begin Saturday, June 19 at 9 a.m. and end at 6 p.m. On Sunday, June 20, it will start again at 11 a.m. and go until 5 p.m. Admission is $5 per day, while adult-accompanied children under 14 are admitted free.  The show catalog is free with paid admission.

During the event, attendees will have the chance to meet the artists, get acquainted with their work and have the opportunity to purchase or commission a sculpture directly. These sculptures are made from a variety of materials including: wood, stone, ceramic, glass, welded metals and mixed media. They also range in size from small to large-scale, realistic to abstract, serious to whimsical. This summer event celebrates sculpture and applauds the artists for their unique work.

The Fifth Annual Arkansas Sculpture Invitational Show and Sale allows the public to interface directly with the artists and the art and to better understand the contributions that art makes to the quality of life. ARSG president, David Harris, says, “The Arkansas Sculptors Guild is vital to the art community. It brings attention to the many talented artists we have in Arkansas and those in the neighboring states. For five years, this event has been connecting Arkansas artists and their work with the people of the state.”

The show and sale represent the on-going effort by ARSG to foster an appreciation for the quality and diversity of different sculptors work. This particular event will display works created by sculptors throughout the Mid-America Arts Alliance states which include: Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas.

The mission of ARSG is to increase the production, quality, appreciation and placement of works by sculptors in residential, commercial and public spaces across Arkansas. In addition, the guild’s objectives are to create awareness of Arkansas’ sculptors and facilities, provide information about public art projects, improve the sculptors training and create venues for their art to be seen.
