Project: Cervical Cancer Task Force Promotion of Cervical Cancer Awareness Month TCG developed a news conference and a legislative luncheon to introduce the Cervical Cancer Task Force’s new state plan for educating policy makers about the importance of cervical cancer detection and prevention, highlight key research and communicate findings concerning cervical cancer treatment access. TCG also developed an outreach kit called “Tell a Sister” for use with the Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) service sorority. Outcome: Approximately 60 legislators attended the luncheon to learn more about the Cervical Cancer Task Force’s activities. Over 100 “Tell a Sister” kits were distributed to Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority members for use in grassroots, one-on-one cervical cancer outreach. |
