Project: Community Relations Program Federal regulations require extensive stakeholder communication prior to issuing a construction certificate to build a natural gas pipeline. Texas Gas Transmission asked The Communications Group to help proactively build positive community relationships in the 15 Arkansas and Mississippi counties where their proposed pipeline was to be built. Our public relations staff developed a series of media meetings, public officials meetings and public open houses that allowed the company to tell its story in an open, accessible format. These meetings gave affected landowners, public officials and the media the opportunity to meet Texas Gas officials, see how and where the pipeline would be built and ask questions in a relaxed, informal atmosphere. Outcome: Federal requirements were met, opposition was almost nonexistent, the project proceeded on schedule and all necessary federal permits were acquired. Construction began on schedule in May 2008. |
