Dear Friends,
Last week at the annual IABC Bronze Quill Awards ceremony, The Communications Group took home more awards than any other agency. In fact, in terms of total awards, we ranked second only to Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
A little background for those of you who may not know: The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) holds an annual competition called the Bronze Quill Awards. A committee of industry representatives from around the country judges the entries. This year judges from five different states evaluated the Arkansas entries. One of the key criteria for judging is results produced by the work. In fact, the judges are pretty tough on entries that don’t have good results documented in their work plan. We like that. We believe that one of the fundamental reasons that our clients hire us is to produce results.
This year The Communications Group dominated the awards among Arkansas advertising agencies. No other marketing firm won more awards. We won 20 Bronze Quill Awards for nine different clients including:
- Breast Care
- Baldor Electric
- Bank of the Ozarks
- Department of Arkansas Heritage
- Healthy Arkansas
- Bioterrorism Preparedness
- Pulaski Heights Baptist Church
- Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation
- Arkansas Dept. of Human Services (DHS)
Ninety one percent of our entries won an award. And here’s an interesting fact: only one entry out of approximately 135 entries scored a perfect score, and it was our entry for the PR work we did on the Build for the Cure Design House for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
As you can imagine, we are extremely proud of our work and our clients. Novelist and Pulitzer Prize winner Edith Wharton once said, “There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.” In my mind, The Communications Group’s work and these awards are the mirror, reflecting the outstanding organizations that we represent.
Sincerely,
Dan Cowling
