New Grouper on the Block

Written by Brooklyn Johnson | May 20, 2022

I am Brooklyn Johnson, the summer public relations intern at The Communications Group. I am from Quitman, which is arguably the best small town in North Central Arkansas. Growing up in a rural area,
I learned about where my food came from at a young age, which is where my interest in agriculture began.  It quickly became my passion when I joined my local FFA chapter in the ninth grade.

After competing in every speaking contest and a few career development events, I knew agriculture was something I wanted to be involved in for the rest of my life. After being elected 2020-2021 Arkansas FFA State Secretary, I learned more about the 2% of Americans who provide food for our entire nation and the importance of telling their stories. That’s why I am majoring in agricultural communications at the University of Arkansas.

That is the "technical" information about me, so let's talk about some fun stuff. I am a storyteller, traveler, extrovert and encourager. Most of all, I am a friend. I enjoy making friends with everyone: mentors, classmates, family, teachers and even strangers. There is so much value in interacting with others. I believe each person crosses our path for a reason and is bound to teach us something we can learn and grow from.

During my CGXperience, I intend to make friends with and learn from those around me to get the best quality experience from this internship. I am ecstatic about this summer and all it has to offer.
